Challenge
Clownfish, like the one in the movie Finding Nemo, transition from male to female; lizards and geckos in the American Southwest and Hawaii are lesbian and reproduce by cloning without anyone fertilizing their eggs; and in Tanzania, female spotted hyenas have penises. That's how diverse the animal LGTBI community is.
In the case of sheep, “one in twelve rams are gay, roughly 7% of the population,” says Emilio Valverde, executive creative director of ServicePlan Spain, an agency collaborating in the development of the new Rainbow Wool brand, launched jointly in Germany and Spain, which is pioneering because it has created the first fashion collection made from the wool of gay sheep. The entire production process for the collection has also been carried out entirely in Spain.
Create the first fabric made from wool from homosexual rams
Solution
In Germany, an innovative sheep farm is making history by creating the first fabric made from the wool of homosexual rams, a move in the fashion world that promotes inclusion and support for the LGBTQIA+ community globally. Rainbow Wool has unveiled its first collection made from this unique wool, with Tokio Hotel vocalist Bill Kaulitz as the face of the campaign. The creative idea and execution behind Rainbow Wool are the work of Serviceplan.
“It has been wonderful to see how our textile industry has embraced such an innovative and disruptive project with such a strong activist character.”
