Serviceplan invests in young creative talent
ÜberCreativity
June once again marked the Cannes Lions International Festival of Creativity. And if it’s up to Serviceplan, this event cannot take place without giving their young creatives the chance to attend the “Oscars of advertising.” Art Director Kato Deca and Copywriter Sander Van Den Broecke share their experience.
Spark Academy
Serviceplan Group, the Independent Network of the Year and winner of multiple Grand Prix awards, believes in and invests in young talent. That’s precisely why Spark Academy was created: an annual internal program giving 25 young professionals from Serviceplan offices around the world the chance to grow and network.
“Spark Academy consists of three parts: a two-day kick-off at the Munich headquarters, a digital inspiration day, and a week in Cannes during the Festival of Creativity. As a young creative, it truly feels like a unique opportunity to give your career in advertising a head start,” says Kato Deca.
Part of the program includes what Serviceplan calls “Überjams.” In such an Überjam, a client of the group presents a briefing, after which creatives, strategists, account managers, project managers, and other profiles of all levels brainstorm together in small teams. At the end of the day, the strongest ideas are selected and presented.
Übercreativity
The idea of having creatives brainstorm with other profiles fits perfectly within the vision of Übercreativity.
Philippe Fass, Executive Creative Director at Serviceplan Belgium, explains: “By bringing together creativity, innovation, strategy, media, and technology, we generate ideas that transcend boundaries. Thanks to Übercreativity, we create campaigns that have more impact than any single discipline could achieve alone.”
Sander Van Den Broecke adds: “Thanks to Spark Academy, we now have a network of young, talented colleagues across all disciplines. Together, we’ve worked for different local and international brands within the group. These are unique opportunities not every creative gets.”
