Challange

Throughout the autumn, our main focus had been on building anticipation and curiosity ahead of the launch of the new BMW iX3 — a model that doesn’t just add something new to the lineup, but genuinely moves the entire industry forward. This was a car worth diving deep into. From groundbreaking technology and innovative features to driving experience and design — every detail carried a story worth telling.

As the December print rollout approached, we wanted to do more than simply repeat previous campaign assets. We saw an opportunity to evolve the expression, challenge the expected and create something that felt both consistent and surprising at the same time. The ambition was to stand out in the noise — with a solution that stayed true to the brand while taking the next creative step.

Not entirely straightforward, of course. Especially with limited central assets to work with. But sometimes, it’s precisely within those constraints that the most interesting ideas take shape.

A small detail. A big impact.

Solution

With a bit of wit, a lot of will — and a generous dose of holiday spirit — we set out to create a seasonal ad that felt both relevant and unexpected. Using relatively simple means, we managed to build in a clear local resonance — in the idea, in the copy, and even in the shape of an artificial snowflake or two.

We let something as seemingly insignificant as a charging flap take center stage. A detail that might easily go unnoticed — yet in this context became a symbol of the car’s technological innovation. The charging flap became a gateway to telling a much bigger story: about a wealth of smart features, thoughtful solutions, and the future of mobility packaged for today. And if you can build an entire ad around a charging flap — then the real question is: what can’t you turn into magic?
