The Beginning of a New Era
Background
BMW was preparing to launch the new BMW iX3 — a model marking a new chapter and the starting point of BMW’s next generation, Neue Klasse.
The challenge was twofold. On one hand, to introduce a new fully electric SUV in a market where electric vehicles are already the norm and competition is intense. On the other, to clearly position the iX3 not as “just another electric car,” but as the beginning of something fundamentally new — technically, aesthetically, and experientially.
Beyond the Specs
Challenge
In a category dominated by numbers, range charts, and technical comparisons, launches risk being reduced to statistics. For BMW, the question was instead:
How do you communicate a technological leap that must be experienced rather than explained?
The new BMW iX3 had standout figures — up to 805 km range, fast charging, and an entirely new driving dynamic. But the real difference lay elsewhere — in the feeling behind the wheel.
Making Innovation Feel Real
Insight
By combining BMW’s heritage with new technology, we created a flexible storytelling concept that carried both the overarching Neue Klasse narrative and highlighted tangible features of the BMW iX3.
A concept designed to build momentum throughout the launch and make complex innovation locally relevant.
A Story Built on Emotion
Idea
We took a clear creative approach — put feeling before figures.
The launch campaign was built around the idea that the BMW iX3 is not a continuation of what has been, but the beginning of a completely new era. A car developed from the ground up for a new way of thinking about electric driving pleasure.
The communication focused on what cannot always be put into words — the immediate response, the balance, the precision, and the sheer driving experience.
The numbers were there too — but they never took over the story.
One Story, Every Channel
Execution
The launch was rolled out as a broad, coordinated campaign across Sweden and in parallel across the Nordic markets — with each channel contributing to the same overarching narrative.
Print & Editorial
Large-scale print ads and bespoke formats where clean design and precise copy created space for the car and the feeling it represents.
Examples of key messages:
- The first of a new era.
- A feeling you can’t learn from reading.
- Enough to escape the everyday.
DOOH & Outdoor
Digital and strategically placed outdoor surfaces gave the campaign a strong physical presence — with clear, confident messages that resonated even in passing.
We also created tailored outdoor executions to engage passing skiers during the ski season in Åre square and at Åre station — featuring the message: DISCOVER AN ENTIRELY NEW RIDE.
Digital & Video
Video content, display, TVC, and digital formats extended the same visual language while bringing the audience closer to the product and highlighting key benefits — without losing sight of the driving experience.
Social, Tactical & Always-on
The launch was supported by tactical and always-on material driving test drives and bookings, leading audiences to retailers — without losing the overarching emotional narrative.
Demand Beyond Expectations
Result
The allocation of BMW iX3 units for Sweden sold out within just a few months during the initial campaign period — exceeding expectations.
Beyond sales performance, we successfully established the new BMW iX3 as an innovative model and marked the beginning of Neue Klasse in the Nordic region. The campaign created clear differentiation in a saturated EV market and laid the foundation for a long-term narrative that BMW continues to build on in future launches.
The launch also succeeded in shifting the focus from technology to experience — reminding the audience that regardless of drivetrain, BMW is still about one thing: Sheer Driving Pleasure.
“This was more than the launch of a new model. It marked the beginning of Neue Klasse and a new way of thinking about electric driving pleasure. By putting feeling before figures, we were able to take a clear position in a highly competitive market — something that was quickly reflected in demand.”
