Meet our new Head of Data, Paul Young

Paul brings over 15 years of experience in marketing analytics and strategic insight, most recently leading advanced analytics at IMS London. We are excited about Paul's experience and we know that he will be a fantastic addition to our team as we continue to grow towards a data-driven and AI-focused future.

What made you want to join Mediaplus UK?
I decided to join Mediaplus for many reasons. I love the behavioural insights niche of the company and the opportunity this provides to be involved in a wide range of new and exciting projects. I am also excited about the vision of better embedding data & analytics in the organisation and the opportunity of providing new analytics services to our clients. With all the awesome strategic changes happening at Mediaplus, it is an exciting time to join and get involved in new initiatives.

 

What are you most excited about as you step into the Head of Data role?
I am excited by the range and diversity of this role and the opportunity to partner with our wide range of experts to drive new insights and analytics services. I am already having exciting conversations around reporting, effectiveness and behaviour insights products. I am also buzzing about the endless possibilities of embedding AI in the business and driving new measurement and analytics services for our clients.


What unique strengths or experiences are you bringing to the team?
I have over 15 years' experience across analytics and measurement, and I have been involved in lots of analytics initiatives, from leading international effectiveness programmes to launching new analytics products, strategic analytics consulting and scaling analytics offshore teams. I am excited to work with the wide range of experts in the company to drive new services and insights for our clients and growth for our people and business.


How do you see data shaping the future of our industry (and your role in that)?

Data and analytics are transforming the media industry in a variety of ways. Audience insights, media measurement and predictive analytics are becoming increasingly important and will become more granular over time due to richer data sources and new types of media. All of this relies on reliable and accurate data and using technology in the best way to maximise the quality and speed of our services. Doing these things well will allow us to better optimise media investment for our clients to maximise their business impact. I am excited to partner with the wide range of experts in our business to develop new methods, tools and thinking to transform us into an industry leader in the insights and measurement space.


What’s one thing people might be surprised to learn about you?
I am a book nerd! I am always interested in speaking about books and hearing about what other people are reading.


And finally, how do you like to unwind outside of work?

I love hitting the gym, playing tennis with friends and swimming. I also love to be out cycling or walking in nature. And saunas are also one of the best inventions ever.
